Palm Sunday

Your King Comes!

Jesus is welcomed into Jerusalem as a King with waving palm branches and shouts of Hosanna.  As he is welcomed into Jerusalem, let us also welcome him as our Savior and King.

Our Sunday School Children will sing in the opening part of this service.

Maundy Thursday

In Remembrance of Me

Maundy Thursday gets its name from the Latin word “mandatum”, meaning, “command.”  On Maundy Thursday Jesus said,  “A new commandment I give to you, Love one another; as I have loved you.” (John 13:34).  Jesus explained to the apostles the significance of his command by washing their feet before he instituted the Lord’s Supper.

We look at one of the last acts Jesus did before his death — washing his disciples’ feet.  Worship includes the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

On this day, darkness blanketed the earth from noon until 3:00PM, as our Savior endured the pains of hell, hanging from a cross.  But Christ’s suffering means our salvation.  In this worship service, we use the ancient custom of tenebrae, Latin for “darkness.”  Throughout the service, as we meditate upon our Savior’s passion, lights are dimmed and candles snuffed.  This symbolizes the ebbing of Christ’s life.  The somberness of this service serves as a foil, making the joy of Easter Sunday all that much brighter.

Easter Sunday

Peace for the Broken

Have you ever felt broken?  It can stem from choices we’ve made, or things that have happened to us throughout our lifetime.  We all deal with brokenness in our own unique way.  But we don’t have to stay that way.  Jesus came to give peace to broken people like us.  He died and rose again to heal our brokenness and bring us back to God.

Join us for uplifting worship, a message of hope, and a place for families to connect with Jesus our Savior.

An Easter Egg Hunt for children and Easter Breakfast will be held after the service.

Kyrie – Lord Have Mercy

Kyrie Eleison is Greek for “Lord Have Mercy.” These words have been the cry of God’s people for centuries when we have called on him for help and deliverance.  We’ll be using a slightly altered version of this setting.

His Mercy is More

This song highlights the mercy of God which we see in His forgiveness to rebellious sinners. The first verse marvels that an all knowing God could choose to not count all our sins again us, but instead throw them into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:9). The Second verse reflects on the truth that God’s mercy is for everyone, and invokes images of the Father welcoming the prodigal son home again.  The Third stanza looks at the price paid for us to be forgiven and welcomed home — the blood of Christ.  Finally all this produces in us the exclamation: Praise the Lord!

Registration Event

Information and Registration for Begindergarten and Kindergarten,
January 25th at 11:45 am and 5:30 pm

It is time to start thinking about your school choices for next year. I am Jill Williams, the Kindergarten/Begindergarten Director/Teacher at Mount Calvary. Here at Mount Calvary we offer a great opportunity for spiritual, academic and social growth, all while secure in a family oriented environment full of love and support.

I provide a great transition class called Begindergarten that is made for children who will be five years of age by January 1st of the school year. Begindergarten is typically for students who are ready for an environment that is more advanced than  preschool, but who aren’t quite ready for Kindergarten.

In addition, I teach Kindergarten for all students who turn five by August 31.  Our Kindergarten class is based upon the Arizona State standards for this grade level.

I am currently enrolling students for the 2017/2018 school year. There is a lot of detailed information on both programs, please contact me for more information!

Mount Calvary has a fabulous opportunity: to attend Kindergarten at little or no cost to you! There is a program called the Arizona tax credit, which allows families to redirect their tax money to tuition for our school. You can start putting all the money you need for tuition aside now and have tuition for next year paid before the school year starts. At least three fourths of our students covered their whole tuition cost this year!

There is an informational meeting about my class and the tax credit on January 25th.  There will be two meetings: one at 11:45 and another at 5:30. Food and childcare is provided. If you are able to attend, please let me know via phone or email (both are below) and include if you desire food and/or childcare.  This will help me prepare for the event.

Please attend and find out if my program is right for your child, and how you can make it affordable.

Jesus and The Baptizer

At his baptism, Jesus declares that he is to be counted among the sinners, and at the same time God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power and declared this son of Mary to be the Son of God—the Savior of mankind.
